For almost 30 years and more than 11,500 completed transplants, Baylor’s transplant program is considered to be among the first in the nation for transplant success rates and the use of revolutionary surgical techniques. We offer comprehensive treatments for liver, kidney, pancreas, islet transplantation and most recently living liver donor transplantation.
For the first time in more than a decade, surgeons on the medical staff at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas are performing living donor liver transplants. Since the inception of this program at Baylor in 2011, three transplants have been performed with good outcomes for both recipients and donors. This program, which is available only at Baylor Dallas and one other transplant center in Texas, is designed as an alternative for patients who otherwise would face very long wait times for a deceased donor liver.
