About HealthTexas Provider Network

Established in 1994 HealthTexas Provider Network had a vision of becoming a premier practice management organization. While we constantly strive to meet the highest industry standards in this regard, we have since morphed into an organization bent on enhancing the patient experience, delivering a superior level of patient care, and using our affiliation with Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) to improve and streamline the continuity of care over the entire continuum. HealthTexas’ alignment with BSWH along with our visionary environment gives us a competitive advantage over other medical groups. Led by talented physicians and built on trust, open communication, and clarity of purpose, our organization enjoys an ability to easily adapt to change and dedicate resources to transforming health care delivery. We have experienced remarkable success in developing and implementing effective quality improvement initiatives that have improved the patient experience and thrust us into the realm of a high-performing medical group.

A “high-performing medical group” as defined by the AMGA is a provider entity that demonstrates it is conducting the following activities: (1) Efficient Provision of Services, (2) Organized System of Care, (3) Quality Measurement and Improvement Activities, (4) Care Coordination, (5) Use of Information Technology and Evidence-Based Medicine, (6) Compensation Practices that Promote Value-based care based on patient satisfaction and quality metrics, and (7) Accountability. HealthTexas and Baylor share a mutual respect in our ability to work as a highly integrated unit. Together we have implemented a strategy of clinical transformation mirroring the above “high-performing” attributes and resulting in quality improvements, clinical integration, standardization, efficiency, care coordination and accountability across all care settings. Through multiple transformation activities, HealthTexas has realized significant progress in our efforts to stay abreast of the ever-changing health care industry and its future of increasing transparency, changing care models, and shifting reimbursement.

We successfully achieved our goal of obtaining NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition for 74 (and still growing) of our primary care facilities. We have taken advantage of the information technology revolution by fully implementing our EHR system throughout our network and enhancing our clinical data warehouse to improve physician reporting and develop patient portal functionality that now allows our patients to become an integral part of the care team and better manage their own health. We continue to participate in various CMS initiatives and look forward to our entry into population health management through our current and future PCMH contract opportunities.

Our journey to create an ideal health care delivery system will most likely never end. It is what keeps us inspired, motivated and in business. It is our desire to keep elevating total value of care for our patients to its fullest potential. To guarantee our success in this endeavor, HealthTexas will remain dedicated to our collaborative culture by continuing to empower our physicians and by remaining loyal to our Baylor bond. We will work to broaden initiatives centered on population management, enhanced access to care at all points of the continuum, and improved patient experience through streamlined, coordinated care. Central to achieving these goals will be our army of talented HealthTexas physicians and our organizations true commitment to innovation, transparency, physician involvement, discipline, and most importantly our mission to deliver the highest value patient experience through quality, safety, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness, enhanced by medical education and research in collaboration with Baylor Scott & White Health.
